Dengue is a mosquito-borne disease that affects a huge population every year. Dengue cases increase during monsoon because stagnant water is the breeding ground for mosquitoes. High fever, headaches, pain behind the eyes, fatigue, joint pain, skin rash, nausea, and vomiting are some symptoms of dengue. Dengue fever needs urgent medical care to treat the condition on time. There are some effective home remedies that can help in controlling the symptoms of dengue. These remedies can bring down the high fever and give you some relaxation from the symptoms. Here are some remedies which can help you control dengue and its complications.

1. Natural remedies to cure dengue

Dengue fever is a viral infection transmitted by mosquitoes. Also known as the ‘break-bone fever’ it affects hundreds of people every year. It is usually accompanied by severe headache, joint and muscle pain. There is a sudden drop in platelet levels that may lead to severe complications. There is no medical treatment for the disease but there are certain remedies that you can follow to treat dengue fever. Have a look!

2. Papaya leaf juice

Due to its bacterial properties, neem leaves also help in improving the blood platelet count and white blood cells and stimulate immunity system. Steep neem leaves and drinks this tea 2 to 3 times daily.

4. Jaggery and onion

Onions are known for fever-reducing properties and when combined with jaggery, they increase the platelet count in your blood, thus they are a great way to treat dengue fever. Take a block of jaggery and crush it along with 2-3 onions. Consume the mixture twice a day.

5. Goldenseal

It is used for treating headaches, nausea, fever and other infections due to its antiviral properties. It is also beneficial in increasing the blood platelet count.

6. Goat milk

Goat’s milk is a proven way to cure dengue as it is a good source of selenium and is known to increase the blood platelet count. Drink a cup of preboiled goat milk 2-3 times daily.

7. Giloy juice

This magical herb is loaded with antioxidants that help in maintaining the metabolic rate, protect your body from free radical damage and improve the immune system. Add giloy extract to a cup of boiled water. Mix well. Strain and drink this mixture twice a day.

8. Orange Juice

Oranges are rich in antioxidants and vitamins which help in treating the secondary symptoms of dengue. Orange juice also helps in eliminating the dengue virus. The miraculous drink promotes antibodies in the immune system, increases urination, thereby releasing toxins from the body. Orange juice also repairs your body cells as it has Vitamin C which is crucial in creating collagen.

9. Fenugreek seeds

These leaves help in bringing down your fever and improve your immunity. Drink a cup of fenugreek water 2-3 times daily to keep dengue fever at bay.

10. Basil leaves

Chew basil leaves or drink basil tea twice a day. It is known to have immunity-boosting properties and protects your body from free radical damage as it is loaded with antioxidants.

11. Barley

Barley stem is a great option for treating dengue fever as it packed with antiviral and antioxidant properties. You can also drink barley tea at least twice daily to see a rapid increase in your platelet count.
