North or North-West portion of the house. If the bathroom is located in the wrong direction, it can cause health and financial problems. The bathroom should not be in South, South-East and South-West direction. South sided bathroom can cause adverse effects on the health of female members. 

As per Toilet Vastu, the toilet should be located in the west or northwest direction. Avoid construction of a toilet at the center and in the east, northeast of the house. The toilet seat should be placed in such a way that the person sitting could face the North or the South. Now the day toilet combined with the bathroom is becoming popular due to lack of space. The combined bathroom and toilet should be in the north-west direction. It should not be adjacent to the Pooja Room, kitchen, and under the stairs.

Geyser and other electrical appliances like heater and switchboard should be installed in the south-east corner of the bathroom. Taps and showers are fixed in north direction. Placing bathtubs in east, west or north-east direction is good. Washbasin and shower can be either in north-east, north or east direction. The North is a good direction for the vanity mirror. 

The water closet should be placed in the West and the South direction of the toilet. A water closet should be placed near a window or an outer wall.

Exhaust fans are necessary if there is no window in the bathroom. The slope of the bathroom floor should be in the North. It should not be in the south-west or south-east direction.

Septic tank should be in the northwest of the house. It should not be in south-east, north-east, north or east directions. The tank should be higher than the floor level of the building.

The door of the bathroom should be in the North or East direction. It should not be placed in a south-west direction. In a bathroom, there should be a small and airy window either in East, West, or North direction. If the window is in the south direction, it would have adverse effects on health.

The color of bathroom tiles can be white, sky blue, and light blue. It helps in giving a fresh look to the bathroom. Avoid dark colors like black or red. The slope of the floor in the bathroom should be towards East or North direction.

Vastu Tips for Bathroom and Toilet

  1. It should not be located in east, north or northeast direction.
  2. It should not be in the northeast and centre place of the house.
  3. It should not be near the kitchen and under the stairs. 
  4. If a change room is built in the bathroom, it should be in South or West direction.
  5. The mirror should be on the northern or eastern wall.
  6. The door should not be in a south-west direction.
  7. The washing machine can be placed in the south-east and north-west direction directions.
  8. Construct toilet 1-2 feet higher than ground level
  9. Colour of the toilet walls should prefer light colours
  10. Avoid having a water closet, in the toilet, above or under pooja room, fire or bed place
  11. Avoid toilets in the centre of the home
  12. Toilets should not be near to the kitchen due to hygienic reasons
