By following these principles, you can make an inauspicious plot auspicious. At first make a plan on paper regarding the layout of the building, excavation, foundation concrete, brickwork, doors and windows frame, etc.

Before starting construction, the land should be cleared of thorny plants, bushes, stones, holes in the ground. The trash should be removed from the construction site. Construction should be done constantly, that is, there is no break in construction work. Daytime is good for construction work, avoid it in the night. Construction Material: Only new material should be used for building.  Old material that is not durable should not be used for new construction as generally old bricks, doors; steel bars, and plumbing material are used in new construction.  Wood taken from thorny trees should not be used. As per Vastu rules, the same material should be used for doors and their frames that are iron doors are made of iron frames rather than wooden frames and wooden doors are made of wooden frames instead of iron frames. 

Storage of Material: 

The storeroom is necessary at the construction sites for storing materials like cement bags. Storage makes the room heavy so it should be in the southwest, south, or west direction. 

Excavation: 

As per Vastu, excavation of land should commence from the northeast corner and proceed towards the East, North, South, and then West direction.

Water Sump: 

Water source in the plot is auspicious in northeast, north or east directions as the northeast is a place of water. Avoid it in southwest, southeast, and northwest directions. Water pump in the middle of the house is inauspicious.  

Laying Foundation:

 Foundation work should start from southwest corner and proceed towards northwest and southeast and then from southeast and northwest to northeast. 

Entrance Door: 

The entrance door should be in a positive direction and far away from corners. Positive directions are North, Northeast, and East in East and North facing plot, Southeast and South in South facing plot, West and Northwest in West facing plot. There should be one or a maximum of two entrance doors in a house.

General Tips for House Construction

1. There should be open space in the northeast of the house. There is more open space in the North and East than South and West.
2. The Master bedroom should be in the Southwest of the house. 
3. The kitchen should be in the Southeast of the house. The alternate location is the Northwest. 
4. Pooja Room should be built in the Northeast of the house. 
5. The toilet should be in the West or Northwest and the bathroom can be in the Northeast, North, East, or Northwest of the house.
6. Basement can be in the northern or eastern portion of the house.
7. The paint of light color is auspicious as per Vastu. Avoid red and black colors in the house.

The major beliefs of Vastu Shastra are as follows:

1. The existence of roads on the northern or eastern side of the house improves the health and progress of the members of the house. If a house has a road on the 3 sides, its inhabitants suffer tension and tension related problems.
2. When the digging is happening to lay the foundation, make sure that you start from the east, go to the north, then to the west, and lastly, southwest.
3. The plot at the end of a road is also not good for its inhabitants.
4. It is good to have the main door on the east, northern, and northeastern corners of the house. A house having the main door at the southwest end provides less peace and a perpetually tense atmosphere.
5. A house having massive main doors gives a lot of unsavory events and members residing suffer health problems.
6. There should be no doors in the southwest corners or the southwest portion of the house. It is best if the doors face north or east. Doors should also open inside and not outside. When the door opens inside, it stands for inviting popular powers and positive energy. However, the door opening outside would be bad for the positive energy- it would actually drive the good energy away.
7. The Wall of the house should have soothing and soft colors on walls as this gives a tension-free atmosphere. Deep yellow, red or orange-colored walls give irritation to the occupants.
8. All water-related appliances or resources of the house should be placed in the northeast area. This provides prosperity.
9. A well or a tube well should never be provided on the southeast end of the house. A well or tube well at the center of the house brings good luck to its head.
10. The presence of plants of Tulsi, Banana, Champa, Ashoka, Mawla outside the house keeps inhabitants healthy, happy, and peaceful.

9. Underground room or space (cellar) should be kept under the northeastern or eastern portion of the complex.
10. Parking for cars, scooter, and bicycles are preferred in the northeast cellar.
11. The open areas in the north and south should be used for lawns and sumps.
12. AC equipment should be kept in the southeast of the complex and should never be installed in the northeast under any circumstances.
13. Washbasins should be provided in the north or east or northeast of the hall.
